Melt as seen at LUX Helsinki januari 2026

Before it came to the Netherlands Melt was seen at the beautiful festival LUX at Helsinki where approximately half a million visitors came to the freezing cold of the beautiful capital city of Finland. All the people of the organisation were so nice and warm we didn’t mind the cold ; )

Again uncontrollable things happend to the sculpture at first when it just arrived after half an hour suddenly we heard big cracks on the surface and it really made the sculpture more natural. In the evening a little blur came on the ice and people put their hands against the ice so they could watch what was in the ice. Melt stayed there for a whole week and then it was transported to our home country where it stayed for exactly two weeks. The again a new phenomena happend because of the sun the ice splintered in fractured pieces but stayed as a whole. This sculpture forms itself just by the natural conditions it is surrounded with we don’t control that and thats also the purpose of this art. The photo inside is slowly revealed by the melting process as if the person’s soul is unfolded in time if we let go. More heartwarming is that i made this with my son audio/visual artist Victor Dissel, melt together. I still make photo’s in the melting process and some of them are available as limited edition fine-art prints.
